Beborn Beton 2023

About Beborn Beton

There's more than one way to experience BEBORN BETON's ninth album "Darkness Falls Again": You can simply dance to it and enjoy it as contemporary synth-pop anthems firmly rooted in the golden 80s – served with a pinch of delicious 90s influences. Catchy melodies and mature songwriting combine for a sonic journey.

But BEBORN BETON also have their finger on the pulse of our time. The trio takes a clear lyrical stance against misogyny, sexual discrimination, and environmental destruction. BEBORN BETON was founded in 1989 by singer Stefan Netschio, keyboardist and drummer Stefan Tillmann, and keyboardist Michael Wagner. The three Germans successfully set out to keep synth-pop relevant and enrich it with important content.

After their first two regular albums "Tybalt" (1993) and "Concrete Ground" (1994), BEBORN BETON found themselves among notable acts like WOLFSHEIM and DE/VISION at their new label home. After firmly establishing themselves in Germany, the three expanded internationally with their 1996 album "Nightfall", which, along with the following releases "Truth" (1997) and "Fake" (1999), was highly acclaimed by both critics and fans.

By the time their work "Rückkehr zum Eisplaneten" was released in 2000, BEBORN BETON had firmly positioned themselves as headliners in their scene and had played in all electronic music strongholds around the globe. However, the demanding tours and the creatively challenging release of so many excellent albums in quick succession took their toll.

After the band released "Tales from Another World" (2002), followed by an extensive concert tour across the USA, BEBORN BETON took a longer break. It wasn't until 13 years later that BEBORN BETON returned to the great joy and surprise of their still numerous followers with a new album on Dependent Records. "A Worthy Compensation" (2015) was showered with praise by all relevant magazines like Sonic Seducer and Orkus.

As BEBORN BETON didn't want to fall back into a relentless production cycle, the trio took their time to compose another masterpiece. "Darkness Falls Again" has all the delicious ingredients that make synth-pop so great: Catchy songs that make your legs twitch. A pinch of melancholy. A dose of irony. But also a dash of anger. And the whole thing is crowned with plenty of intelligence. Welcome back BEBORN BETON!
